The Dracula Effect: Our Relationship With Vampires

Filed under: Uncategorized — Adeeb Shabazz @ 2:21 am

[The following is a reprint from an earlier article I wrote that I thought would be quite relevant and timely.]

Alright, now that I have your attention, you are probably wondering what in the world I am speaking about vampires for. There is a relationship between this mythological creature and what many of us experience in our daily lives. I am going to call it “The Dracula Effect”. The Dracula Effect is what we experience when we allow people into our lives that have no life of their own but instead suck the very life blood out of us, and such is the basis of their relationship with us. Now of course most of us would say “I don’t know anyone like that in my life”, but The Dracula Effect makes it hard to recognize their presence. To make it simpler, I’ve included a few of Count Dracula’s supernatural traits and I’ll discuss each one as we go through:

1. he survives on the blood of others This is the most commonly known trait of Dracula and of all Vampires. Blood symbolizes life, and since this creature has no life of his own he sucks the blood of others. In our lives we know people like this, who instead of physically sucking blood out of your neck simply drain your energy by maintaining a constant degree of negativity around you. Some do it through being full of ‘drama’ where there always seems to be a state of emergency that exists with them while others spend their days gossiping about people and spreading negativity, or perhaps something as simple as sharing negative thoughts everytime you see them. This brings us to the second most commonly known trait, which is…

2. he can turn victims into vampires The consequence of allowing them to ’suck your blood’ is that you too will become a vampire. We know vampires are the walking dead, or the ‘undead’. They walk around like all the rest of us but have no true life of their own. There’s no ‘magic’ or ‘myth’ in this. If we associate with such negative people who drain the life out of people they are around, the consequence is that after some time we too will become the same type of bloodsucking energy zappers. So why don’t we just avoid these type of people? Why would we ever associate with someone who drains our energy? Family obligation is the number one reason; these types will always seek out family first to drain because the obligation to tolerate them is silently understood in our society. Long-time friends are next, especially childhood friends, because of the bond that has grown over the years due to a shared past, many become ensnared by this sense of obligation. This is true especially when the person was not a vampire at first but got turned into one along the way. Regardless, sometimes these types and even new vampires can come into our lives because…

3. he has hypnotic power over his victims The vampire talks like us and walks like us and can even be quite charming. They may be witty, comical, or intelligent, but always have some redeeming quality. After all, no one is going to let a boring and dull-witted person near enough to them to suck their blood. Some people when told of this Dracula Effect attempt to help their friends or loved ones and save them from an endless life of bloodsucking and being amongst the undead, but this creates a problem because…

4. he has no reflection in a mirror In other words, they can’t see themselves as they are. They have become oblivious to the fact that they are without a life of their own and spend their days sucking the blood of their victims through constant gossip and ensnarements that they create. Most people have to find out for themselves, but the best thing to do is to leave these people to their own devices before you too become one of them.

There are many other traits of those perpetrators of The Dracula Effect, but I’ll shorten it by ending the description here and now offer some solutions. For starters remember that…

1. he may not enter a household unless he is invited in These bloodsuckers don’t force their way into our lives, we let them in 100% of the time. If we notice one coming, quickly turn them away, and if we have one in our lives already, we need to let them know they are no longer welcome to suck our blood. We do this by ceasing to allow their negative talk and gossip around us, and we cease to share in their ensnarements that they love to create. We also keep in mind that…

2. he loses his supernatural powers during daylight hours Knowledge and Wisdom is light. Want to get rid of a vampire? Constantly share constructive knowledge and wisdom. They may stay around you for a moment, although I guarantee you it will be less and less, but even when around you they will have no effect on you whatsoever because you will have countered their supernatural powers with the Sun-like powers of Knowledge and Wisdom. Another aspect of protection connected to this is…

3. he is repelled by garlic and holy symbols (crucifix, holy water) Garlic is a natural antibiotic, it kills germs while keeping you healthy. Now in this case, wearing garlic may chase them away, but it also will probably chase away everyone you DO want to be around you also. Eating it will help your body but will do little to chase away these bloodsuckers. Instead, you need some ‘proverbial garlic’ which is keeping yourself mentally healthy by taking in healthy thoughts and spending time with positive people. Programming yourself correctly with books, CD’s, DVD’s and tapes with positive content will guard your system against attack by these bloodsucking creatures.

Water is a symbol of life also, and Holy Water is simply symbolic of a ‘blessed’ life. Once taking your proverbial garlic, use your newfound positive knowledge; live it out! The more you live out a positive self-existence the less the vampire can stand to be around you. You don’t even have to say anything to them, just simply living out positivity is like flinging that Holy Water on them, it just burns them up!

Whatever You Have Done For One Of The Least Of These…

Many may recognize the words that make up the title of this article to be the beginning of a quote attributed to Jesus. The context is a discourse Jesus is having with his disciples in the course of speaking about separating the ’sheep’ from the ‘goats’. He presents a parable of servants who are before a king, and being told that they fed him when he was hungry, gave him water when he was thirsty, clothed him when he was naked, and tended to him when he was sick and in prison, and the servants respond in a confused state, not knowing when they did these things for the king. He responds: whatever you have done for one of the least of these, meaning the meekest of my followers, you have also done these things for me. On the other hand, the parable goes on to speak of those amongst the servants who are cursed because they did not feed him when he was hungry, did not clothe him when he was naked, and did not tend to him when he was sick or in prison. Likewise, these ask the king when did they see him in need and not do these things for him, to which he responded: whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.

The world is full of people with self-righteous indignation , feeling that they have earned their station in life and having no sympathy those who have fallen on hard times. They feel justified in scorning those who may suffer unemployment or even the loss of a home, often claiming that the reason must be some lack of effort on the part of the sufferer. Many times these very same people falsely claim that no one helped them on their way up, usually forgetting favors from family, friends, teachers, and employers who gave them a break of undeserved kindness along the way. Perhaps at some point in time, you may have been this person who has carried a bit of self-righteous indignation. It is common to hear those who are full of such self-righteousness to claim that they are blessed by God, or that they are righteous individuals, or even to hear them bragging about how conscious they are and what their elevated conscious state has done for them, yet these same individuals are never around when it comes time to lend a hand to those in need. Some give, but only to those who are of their particular culture or belief system.

While there is no excuse for a lack of honest effort, there are plenty of individuals who have no home, no food, little clothing, and scant opportunity to change their condition. Regardless of whether we are largely self-made or not we should never be above offering a hand-up to those we see who are less fortunate, or simply have fallen on some hard times. Each of us have at the very least accepted the assistance of our parents, parental figures or caretakers as we grew up when we were unable to feed ourselves, clothe ourselves, shelter ourselves, or even clean ourselves properly. While we look at these parents or parental figures as being “ours”, it was still a blessing that we had them for not everyone does. Further, most of us have no conscious recollection of choosing our parental households as infants arriving in this world, so the fact that these parents or caretakers were “ours” was our stroke of fortune. I say this to emphasize that we have all been vunerable, if at no other time then in childhood, and we should remember this and always keep an attitude of gratitude and seek to help our fellow man and woman as we walk this journey of life. Gratitude and gracious giving will even help us receive what we desire for ourselves, because Universal law causes a gap when we expend energy to give that is filled reciprocally in some form or fashion from either the source we gave to or another. Riches can be gained in many ways but the riches, both material and immaterial, that can be gained by gracious giving comes with the by-product of peace for the giver. It is the prosperity of the giver that includes love, peace, and happiness and distinctly separates them from the goats of the world that never look to help anyone and never seem to have any peace despite their relative wealth. Make a point to be a giver with an attitude of gratitude, knowing that the world can only improve if we help one another, and not only by always giving a fish, but helping to teach those in need how to fish for themselves.

Black History Is American History

Today is the birthday of the celebrated 1st President of the United States: George Washington. Mr. Washington was a slave owner and lived a relatively comfortable life, largely due to the involuntary assistance of African slaves. Two and one half centuries later, we live in a mostly united America, yet still have a great divide that exists between Black America and the rest of America. Black History Month is commonly celebrated in February, and its celebration brings mixed results annually. While most Black people welcome Black History Month with open arms, some Caucasian Americans look upon Black History Month with disdain, claiming that there is no White History Month, or even an Italian History Month, British History Month, Scottish History Month, or German History Month for example. The obvious difference of course is that none of these ethnicities or nationalities suffered through the pangs of African American slavery such as did Black people in America. Errors of atrocitiy do exist in the past of many nations, but the question that remains is: did the nation in question rectify their wrongs? For America, the answer largely lies in the annals of their offical recorded history.

Who invented the Cotton Gin? The traffic light? The filament to the light bulb? The modern toilet? Air conditioning? From the 18th Century through modern times, America needs to record and recite the great contributions that African Americans have made to American society. Until they do, America will likely suffer from inadequacy and inequality, since inadequate or uneven reporting of accomplishments will lead to an imbalanced future.

Caucasian Americans are correct: there is no need for Black History Month. Its time that Black Americans be given credit for the great accomplishments they have made for centuries alongside other Americans throughout history. The only question that remains is: when will this happen? America, it is up to you: write history accurately and completely, or suffer the karma that injustice commonly brings. The choice is clear, and simple.

I’m Not Participating In The Recession

Filed under: Uncategorized — Adeeb Shabazz @ 2:40 pm

None of us can likely count the enormous amount of people who complain about the recession we are in, and blame it for failures in their lives from A to Z. This general complaint has become a war cry of every individual and family with serious challenges. I make no slight of the challenges people face, for I too have faced them and continue to face them, however there is a distinct difference between myself and those who think like me and those who have actually embraced this idea of “The Great Recession”. The difference is that I have refused to participate in the recession.

On the surface this may seem over-simplistic, mocking, and perhaps even juvenile. However, on closer introspection you will find that there are common practices, habits and language amongst those participating in the recession. Those who have been convinced that this recession is a hard-fast reality have taken the position that the economy is bad, therefore they have given up on advancing in business: businesses stop advertising; banks stop lending; most of all, outlooks are bleak. Now I am a realist and am not going to tell you that there is no recession, because I know there is. What I am going to say is that I am not participating and you do not have to either if it is not your choice to. What those participating in the recession do not realize is that change is inevitable, and resisting change causes stagnation, which has resulted in this recession. Stale advertising and marketing strategies, old lending practices, and staunch individualism can only lead to decay. The way people get their news, watch their shows, listen to their music, shop for their goods, and communicate with people across the country and across the globe has changed drastically in the past 10 years. Those companies that do not adapt to these changes and attempt to stick to old outworn practices will perish, and many have. We live in a rapidly changing world and a rapidly changing universe, and if we do not adapt we then feel the pangs of decay in our life.

What does all this mean for those of us like myself who are simply individuals trying to make ends meet for ourselves and our families, and perhaps get a bit ahead? This means that we need to be more self-aware, realizing how we do things on a daily basis. How much do we rely on a cell phone compared to 10 years ago? How much do we communicate by email compared to 10 years ago? How much do we shop online compared to 10 years ago? These questions and questions like them will begin to illustrate how our own world has changed so dramatically when we look at the answers to them, and set us on a path toward realization of the world we live in today. We then can begin to recognize opportunities that exist to network and build business like we never have before. Taking advantage of new opportunities that this process reveals even on a small scale can at the very least increase our incomes by a few hundred dollars to several thousand monthly, and for most of us that makes the difference between living under the gun and living the life we used to before people started talking recession, or perhaps even better. The choice is ours; now that we know better, will we do better?

Sexual Alchemy-part two

There is a great deal of evidence indicating that sex energy is responsible for the manifestation of our desires. The classic, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, speaks of “The Mystery of Sex Transmutation” and dedicates an entire chapter to this subject. Sex energy is very different from love, and many people simply do not comprehend this, or end up confusing the situation by blurring the two. Certainly, it is possible for us to share great sex energy with those we love, or grow to love those who we share sex energy with, but it is important to say that one does not automatically follow the other. If we are approaching life in a more scientific manner, one in which we are looking to manifest our desires, we must be aware of our sex energy and conscious of our usage of it. It is also important to understand that one may share sex energy with another person without engaging in a sexual relationship with that person, although caution must be used here as many have failed to cultivate this energy without consummating the act. Nonetheless, it must be observed that sex energy that is cultivated properly and shared with those whom a strong bond exists has been indicated as one of the main components of conscious manifestation in the Law of Attraction; those who cultivate this energy without falling victim to unhealthy sexual escapades end up being our most successful people. Metaphysically speaking this makes perfect sense since the act of physical creation is sparked by sex, therefore in the realm of the God Mind sex energy is the equivalent used to create on the energy plane, then stepped down to material manifestation.

The oddities that arise in this process are that we often marry or choose life-partners who meet our social expectations rather than our sex energy. Those who activate our sex energy the most may not be whom our parents or elders instilled in us that we should choose, or may not be those who share our culture, or may not have the “look” that we expect our mate to have. This poses a problem for most of us, and we then proceed to live a life in a bond to a person who shares our social, religious or cultural morays but not a high sex energy, thus a divorce rate that exceeds 50% is the result. In many cases involving monogamous marriage it is found that not only infidelity is the case, but the one carrying on the extramarital affair is doing so with someone they knew before they married and always had a high sexual attraction to. For those in committed relationships desiring to maximize conscious manifestation in their lives it is necessary to ensure in a manner that is agreeable to you and your mate that sex energy remain high in your lives, realizing in more than half the cases modifications will be necessary. For those who are single and considering a committed relationship of any sort, this is the time to ask yourself: is the person I am preparing to choose to be in a bond with one with whom there is a high sex energy between us? The answer may set the tone for the rest of your life, or at least a good portion thereof.

Sexual Alchemy-part one

Alchemy is commonly known as the transmutation of lead into gold, but alchemy, or al khimiya in Arabic, is an ancient science that is much more vast. Alchemy is simply the transformation of one type of energy-matter into another type of energy-matter, which of course could include transforming lead to gold but holds so much deeper a meaning.

Lately I have concentrated my focus on the exploration of sexual energy and its significance and connection in manifesting, or transmuting energy into a desirable physical manifestation of any sort. Many do not realize that sexual energy is a vital part of the creative process and must be properly used in order to manifest whatever one seeks and desires in this world.

In discussions I have sought with various family members, friends and associates I have challenged the status quo when it comes to relationships. When someone is upset that a significant other or spouse has had sexual relations with another person outside of the presumed ‘legitimate’ relationship my first question to them is, “why are you upset”? I am not indicating that the person should not be upset, but instead challenging the assumption of monogamy and exclusivity as a general rule. Was the person in question meeting your needs and desires? If not, did you then feel short-changed because he or she took their energy outside of the relationship thus leaving you short-changed? Were you doing your best to meet his or her desires, or were you negligent in that respect? If so do you understand your contribution to this phenomena and what, if anything, are you willing to do to rectify this situation to reach a point that is satisfactory to both you and your partner? This is the thought process that needs to be followed in rectifying relationships, but too often it is circumvented in favor of finger-pointing and fault-finding that is devoid of anyone taking responsibility for their actions.

Sexual harmony is vital to our creative process as manifestors, and therefore we must work more consciously in order to bring about this harmony and stop harboring thoughts left over from medieval mating rituals and concepts. Technology has expanded the world and the way we see it and live in it, yet our relationships have not followed the pace of this trend. If we do not keep up, our economy will continue to stagnate and stall until we choose a more appropriate path.

The Deal With Metaphysics

Many people ask me what metaphysics really means, or ask me to give them the “real deal” on metaphysics. Metaphysics means “beyond physics”, or “beyond the physical”. To be more accurate, metaphysics is the discipline of science dealing with the study of phenomena or energies of the subatomic level. The atom is considered the foundation of the physical world, it being the smallest particle considered to be mass: that which has weight and takes up space as we measure it.

Of course in modern science we know that there is a lot more to reality than what exists at the atomic level. Studies involving electrons, protons, neutrons, photons, microwaves, x-rays, and the like have shown us the very real world that exists beyond the atom. In the 21st Century it is common that we use cellular phones, satellite television, fax machines, and the various functions of the internet that make the existence of energy beyond the atom very real to us on a daily basis. What we cannot touch, taste, smell, feel or even hear has very real consequences in our daily lives.

Although our use of metaphysics as a phrase goes in a slightly different direction than the technology described above, the concept can be validated and understood by understanding the principle behind these technologies. It is readily understood today that there is no solid line between what we call physical and what we call energy as we used to conceive it. We live in a world and a universe of energy, and the only thing that differs is the vibrational level and how well we can transform the vibrational levels of this energy from one form to another. We can use a fax machine to send an image copied from a sheet of paper over a fiber optic cable to another fax machine many miles away that can reassemble and reprint that image just as it originally appeared; we can take and transmit a video recording through the air from a hand-held device to another hand-held device across the entire globe and beyond; we can talk to people worldwide and even in outer space through the use of energy. All these things are metaphysics in action.

However, what is it that most of the world means when they say metaphysics? It is usually applied to the study of what is still considered supernatural use of energies to produce results not commonly seen. Let me point out that cell phones, satellite television, the internet, and fax machines were not commonly seen until the past 15-20 years, and not seen at all 40 years ago. What is commonly seen changes from generation to generation quite a bit more rapidly nowadays than what it used to.

With this new era of technology upon us, it is now important for us to understand how this principle of energy to matter works with what we refer to as divine energy. The very creative energy or Mind of the Universe is accessible to us and can be downloaded by us in our physical form called body and brain as readily as we can download energy and information into our physical computers, iPhones, Blackberries, and other computing devices. I am not stating that we can as a single human being access the entirety of Universal energy into one body, yet more than we have ever imagined can indeed be accessed. Energy works on frequencies, and the pertinent thing is that we enter into and remain in consciousness, and put ourselves in tune with this Universal energy so that we may access it. There are clues throughout history as well as modern discovery that tell us just how we do this, and as we follow these clues we become more aware of the accessibility of divine energy to ourselves. The more we familiarize ourselves with the process of accessing this divine energy, the more proficient we will become in doing so, and the closer we will get to our true divine nature and remove the mystery surrounding creation.

Giving Passion to Fault

In speaking of Law of Attraction, much of the mystery is taken out of it when we realize that we attract not just what we think about, not just what we want, but what we give our attention to. If we take pause, we know there is a difference. We may have a list of goals, written or mental, that we want to accomplish. We may set goals every New Year, or if we are particularly goal-oriented we may even write goals regularly and review them regularly. Yet many of us wonder why we do not reach these goals, or if we do we wonder why we have received a bunch of side-effects along with the goals that we did not want.

The simple matter is that we attract what we give our attention to, and although we may set goals and review them, we may also be giving our attention to what we don’t want. Do we find someone particularly annoying? Unattractive? Do we worry about not accomplishing our goals? Getting ill along the way? Having vulture-like people come around us and attempt to feed off of us once we reach success? Many of these things and more are things that people give a great deal of attention to and a great deal of emotional energy. I like to refer to emotion as “Energy-in-Motion: e-motion”, in order to remind ourselves constantly that we set energy in motion every time we feel strongly about an issue, person, or thing, positive or negative, and that is what will increase in our lives.

We must be careful with how we use our energy. Attention and energy is a formula for passion, and passion is a formula for creation. If we give our passion to fault, we will yield a great deal of fault in our lives. On the other hand, if we give our attention to what we desire, and casually observe what “is” that we may not want and let it roll off of us, we then lessen the energy focused on what we do not desire. Not only does this yield less of what we do not want in our lives, it frees up a great deal more energy to be used in infinite organizing power that can be used to coordinate “coincidences” necessary to bring your goals to fruition.

The Reality of The Law Of Attraction

Filed under: Uncategorized — Adeeb Shabazz @ 5:40 am

Since the publishing of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne in 2006, many have become familiar with the term Law of Attraction and have become interested, intrigued, and sometimes confused by this phenomena of Law of Attraction. People often wonder, “what is Law of Attraction (LOA)? How do I use LOA in my life? If I use LOA to get what I want in life, where does what I don’t want come from?” All these are valid questions and should be addressed.

In personal irony for me, my metaphysical  book What If God Were One Of Us? was published five months prior to The Secret, and for me it just shows that there was great energy surrounding Law of Attraction and personal manifesting around this time, and it was time for the Universe to bring this subject from the background to the forefront of consciousness. This small fact reminds me that there is nothing exclusive in the Universe, save the way each individual expresses the knowledge and information he or she chooses to express. Because I’ve had the passion for knowledge since birth and the passion for writing professionally since middle school, I am only expressing what I came to this plane of existence for when I write books, articles, and even this blog. Because I’ve had a passion for things in the spiritual realm since very early in my life, it is only fitting that my focus in life be centered around the way of life of a spiritual teacher and writer; the ancients in India called this dharma, meaning purpose in life.

The best thing for each of us to do is to find our dharma, or purpose in life, and to begin to focus our personal energies on this purpose and make it a central focus in our lives. Our children should be brought up to find their dharma and focus their personal energies and attention on it and make it central in their lives. Too many times we are steered toward earning a living, making a fortune, and achieving goals that are centered around someone else’s concept of success. It is not wrong by any means to earn a living, make a fortune or attain great success in life, yet if it is not centered around one’s purpose in life, it will be a journey filled with great stress and strife, yeilding little happiness in return.

In fact, struggle and strife can become central in one’s life and will yield more stress, struggle and strife in one’s life. We attract what we put our attention on, with passion, and passion can be positive or negative. Many of us do not realize that we are filled with focus on worry, stress, anger, resentment, and other emotions that produce an energy that manifests what we don’t want. This is why we must re-examine how we construct our lives and what we make central in our lives.

Knowledge of Self

Filed under: Uncategorized — Adeeb Shabazz @ 5:52 am

How many of us really know our true selves? What is it that we call our selves? A bunch of internal mental chatter that was programmed into us in our formative years as our parents, teachers, and other edified individuals drilled into our heads what they thought we should know? Don’t get me wrong: a good deal of this internal chatter was actually good stuff that we needed and still rely upon to function and stay safe in this world, given to us by people who love us no doubt. However, in there with the programming that tells us to stay away from fire, to look both ways before crossing the street, and to wash our hands before meals is also internal chatter that tells us we need to make practical choices in order to earn a living for our families and that we can’t fight city hall.

Where is the real us in all of this? It is not the us that says we’re smart or dumb, good or bad, right or wrong, athletic or clumsy, or confident or shy. Inside each and every one of us is a divine being who manifest here on this physical plane with a purpose. How do you get in touch with this divine being? Regular meditation helps quiet the mind of all the chatter and allows one’s true Self to shine through. While many do not find meditation easy, it is learned through practice, and the practice of meditation must be maintained until learned. For those who do not do well with silent meditation after a prolonged period of time, primordial sound meditation, such as in the practice of Jappa meditation, is recommended. The primordial sound, which could be something as simple as the sound “ahh” or “aum”, could be used in order to tune out the background chatter we may not be able to tune out in silent meditation.  It is then that we can get in touch with our true selves and listen to the still small voice that speaks to our true being and reveals what we truly are here to share with the rest of the world.

For most of us, our parents and teachers were loved ones attempting to guide us aright. We do not disrespect them when we make the conscious decision that we need to get in touch with our true selves and follow our internal passions and visions. In doing so, we do not forget all of the value they have taught us, yet we now take control over what we choose to keep and what we choose to discard from what they’ve offered. In doing so, we have the best of both worlds, and we can soar to new heights.
