| Libertarianism in a Metaphysical Way (continued from home page) America was deemed the Land of the Free two centuries ago. What is seen today is far from freedom. Massive taxation and regulation has created a large nanny state that strives to take care of everyone and punishes those who seek to do for themselves. For those of us who still desire freedom the task is more complex than simply getting rid of the bureaucrats, because we must realize that the mentality of the masses of people in America no longer desire freedom consciously. They have been grasped by the hypnosis of social conditioning that says we are better off with a nanny state to protect us from the harms we are not intelligent enough to protect ourselves from. Such a mentality must be changed before the people are motivated to go out and vote to remove those politicians that work to repress our freedoms. That is where metaphysics comes in. Metaphysics is a broad term covering many angles of thought, but concentrates on the power of the mind to change circumstances. Meta means going beyond and physics refers to the physical, so metaphysics in its simplicity is going beyond the physical. No condition is going to change unless we change it ourselves, and the way to change is through changing the mentality. A mentality of responsibility must be ushered in by those of us who see the need for change and understand the importance of responsibility to champion that change; irresponsibility has led us to a welfare state. The mindset must be changed one person at a time, through enlightenment of individuals, and through conscious living. In other words, instead of going through life mechanically we should be conscious of our ways and actions and live a responsible lifestyle. The best teaching is that which is done through action, and by acting responsibly and living out Libertarianism in practice more people will begin to investigate and eventually embrace Libertarianism.
